It’s early in the morning and I have yet to fall asleep. Lots of things kept my mind occupied till I can’t even thing of a single thing for over 1 min. My sleeping time has been quite distorted these days, sleeping around 6am and waking up at 3pm. I want to change this habit by sleeping around 11.30pm on Saturday, but end up waking up at 12pm the next day. This caused a lot of disruption to my work as I’m struggling to change my sleeping habit. Hope everything will be back to normal soon and I will able to concentrate on doing 1 single thing each time.

A nice cooling day…
Posted by weyshi on September 24, 2008
It’s 4.15pm in the afternoon and it’s so cooling unlike the past weeks. I hope this will be the turning point of the extremely unlucky and unhappy past weeks.
For the past few weeks, so many incidents happened happened. Disappointments, unhappiness, exhaustion, stressed up and many more just happened all at once.
Some highlight would be:
- the preperation for the 3 quizzes. Studied it just like how I studied for exams.
- Then it was the rushing of literature review. Till now, I am still unsure what to write in the literature review but got a better idea of what I need to do. Just need to focus better and get the Matlab software that is compatible to Vista.
- After that, it was my broken tooth. Panicked as a section of my tooth broke. There were some food particles from dunno how long ago came out. I guess that’s the reason why it broke. I wouldnt dare to eat anything after that and quickly fixed it before more craked happened.
- many many more.. too much to tell within so little time.
Have to get back to my work.. Holiday (recess week) is not for you to take a break. It’s for you to catch up with those work else you will break when school starts.

Closure to IO
Posted by weyshi on September 19, 2008
As I was simulating my embarkment to working life through the resume assignment that is suppose to be submitted today, I checked my degree audit (online transcript or wadever u wanna call it) and saw my IO results. To my horror, it was a B grade. Haiz.. so much effort was put in the application of job, working and completion of log book and report. I even thought that I have done an excellent report.
It’s so disappointing. I have sacrificed so much grades from other subjects and this is what I have got. I can’t seem to think of any reason for my poor results other than late submission, which I do not think is my fault because the experiment ended late. Haiz… I guess I have to be less bothered by all these trival stuff and move on… and I have to learn to complete and submit reports/assignments early… It’s really a sway period for me with very few good things to talk about..

First few problems with ebay seller & item
Posted by weyshi on September 18, 2008
Hey.. Just realised that wordpress is getting fast…
is it the time I log it? if so, that means evening ard 5.30pm is a good time to blog and after 12 midnight is a real bad time… alrite, my post is not about this again..
Had my first 2 problems with ebay’s stuff.
1) I just bought a scottish dagger known as Sgian Dubh. Yes!! a new toy into my collection, but the transaction wasn’t as smooth as I expected it to be. Well, I was hoping that it will in my letterbox within 10 days after my transaction, but guess wad…. a letter came instead, notifying me that it is held up at the customs as it seems to be a controlled item. Told be to bring the item to the Arms & Explosives Licensing Division for inspection.
It’s soooooo troublesome… it’s just a small blunt knife which is less dangerous than a penknife requires licence? Apparently, they classified as dagger.. so the difference in its term is the caused of all these trouble. Managed to collected it from post office and send it down to the licensing division at Cantoment today… After all the trouble, the guy said i think it doesn’t require licensing la.. the blade not sharp… but dun bring it around… I am not sure if I should thank him or curse him.. I guess thank ba.. since he didn’t prolonged my agony by applying for the license and ask me to come back another day…
As I was inspecting my item, I was kind of disappointed. This thing that take up so much of my time has an unpolished “jewel” or plastic (it doesn’t matter that much) with glue marks at the side. The scabbard is also very loose.. cannot hold on to the blade at all. Haiz.. well.. i guess that is the risk you are going to get when you shop in ebay…

2) I bought another kilt pin around the same time is not here yet. The reason is because the seller has problem with his/her paypal account after i paid… IS THAT MY PROBLEM?? apparently it became my problem as he/she told me to email paypal to return my money.. come on.. it’s your problem.. and using your common sense will know that no matter how much I contact them.. only the person with that has the ability to return the money is the one with the money… arghh..
I still contact them anyway.. wanting to get over and done with ASAP… just as expected, paypal told me to ask the seller to contact them.. I told the seller.. he/she said that he/she got it working again and can send my item.. it’s a total waste of my precious time.. I promised myself that I will not leave a positive remark for him/her…
—————————————-
Of course there are still good stuff selling in ebay.. Just bought a new ghillie brogue for around $92, inclusive of shipping, for Brandon. sent to my house…. no problems at all.
Ok.. here are some of the pictures of my new toy… and I am glad to say.. there are many more toys on the way…

Getting physical
Posted by weyshi on September 16, 2008
Is there any problem with wordpress these days?? It takes very long to load to the admin page. Anyway, this post is not about the slow loading time of wordpress. It’s about me thinking of how to exercise. Yes, back to the problem of being overweight and the lack of time to exercise. I was reminded by Brandon over last weekend that my face seems to be rounder than before, and it’s only 2-3 weeks since the last time he saw me. Oh dear… I have to do something about it.
But what is stopping me?? I have given deep thought about it and here are my reasons.
- Just ate. Feeling full so cannot exercise.
- Just bathe. If exercise then will sweat, so waste water.
- Just found the inspiration to study, so cannot exercise, else cannot complete my work.
- Feeling lazy.
- Weather too hot.
- It’s raining.
- No decent running shoes (problem solved)
- Very tired. Take a nap first before I run.
- and many many more…
I guess I have to find the motivation to start exercising. So I decided to list down a series of physical activities that will help me to lose those calories.
- My favourite – play bagpipe.
However, this is only limited to playing the real instrument. Playing practice chanter doesn’t count. Some may find that it wouldn’t help at all but it was tested and proven during my secondary school days, where I sweat so much after practising for an hour everyday. But the main problem about this form of physical activity is that it requires a place that nobody will complain. I am sure that my neighbour downstairs will call the police if I ever play bagpipe at home. - Soccer
My favourite sport. I played a few times recently thanks to some of the BB boys, especially the sec 1s. For now, I can only run for the first 5 mins. The rest of the game, I am walking more that I run. Why I am not playing as often as I wish to is because of the lack of kakis. You need at least 8 person to play futsal, but most of the boys go home after parade… haiz… - Badminton
A sport that I enjoy. But the booking of court is so troublesome. NTU courts are free but require early booking and it’s very far from my house; bringing the racquets is a chore. Community Centres’ court require you to sign up “Passion Card” in order to book (or maybe book cheaper), and it still cost money. In order to get a decent workout, you need to find an opponent that match your standard so that I will be motivated to play properly. - Kayaking
I don’t do it often, but I enjoyed it a lot. But this sport requires you to get a least a SCF star 1 + kakis with equal or higher standard + $$ to rent kayaks + lots of time to travel to the seaside. It sures give you a workout and a nice tan too…
- Basketball
Same category as soccer. - The one I hate most – running
Most convenient sport, only need a pair of running shoes and a willing heart. Well.. I used to be able to run fairly well. Remember those fitter days in army where I complete the half marathon. Right now, every step is a struggle. I will get my backaches if I run too fast, knee aches if I run too long and breathless even if I bear those aches I previously mentioned. That’s certianly not the runner’s high that I looked forward of getting. However, it’s still the most effective way of shedding fats.
I think I still got somemore, but it’s getting late. I will have to start losing weight soon before I go back to army. Else many of my officers and warrents will start to show some concern over my size and torture me..

Desperate Students
Posted by weyshi on September 12, 2008
I guess all of us has been students once and there are times we haven’t been studying hard. Below are some of the pictures there were forwarded to me on what degree of desperation the students can be when they cannot answer some questions. After looking at it, I was very amused by the pictures and found myself guilty of scribbling anything that comes to my mind in the final hours of exam. I guess my markers must be having lots of fun laughing at students’ stupid answers. Alrite, enjoy the pictures.

4 lectures and a run
Posted by weyshi on September 5, 2008
I just came back from a run (abt 2km) which took 20 mins. I didn’t feel that breathlessness I used to, but the aches at my left ankle and right side of the back (near the hip area) did caused me to stop and walk twice. I guess my stamina has improved, from the few occasion where I played futsal and basketball during parades. Of course running sessions with dearie helped me as I was hoaxed for about half an hour before I agreed to run last week. I am kind of glad that my stamina is improving, and now I need to work of shed some weight which I believe is causing my aches.
Today, or yesterday to be more precise, I watched 4 lectures by Dr Long Yi on Thin Film. Even though I manage to watch those lectures, I still have a long way more before I catch up all the lectures I have missed. I can say that the 4 lectures are completed with much procrastination as I was awake for a total of 7 hours. Also, I am hoping that I can complete some of the tutorials I have yet to take a look at it. My aim is to catch up with all the lectures and tutorials by the holidays, then start the new term by attending all the lectures and tutorials.
Right now, I am still neglecting my FYP considering that I had a group meeting with Dr Gan. I felt kind of guilty that every other person in my group have something to talk about their FYP except me. I am still quite far away from starting my FYP as I have yet to understand electromigration and do a literature review on that. I guess I have to stop procrastinating and start working.
This Saturady is BB Character Quest (former National Bible Quiz Competition), and I am tasked to be one of the marshals. Tomorrow, or today, I am required to stay overnight at barker. Should I keep myself awake till next night and sleep early? In the mean time, I think I will try to work on what is left undone before I sleep.
