Escaped!!

The performance went well on Wednesday night @ Clarke Quay. Although not listed in the top 10 performances that I have experienced, but still up to a certain standard I guess as there are a few of the audiences came up to Brandon, Joshua and me to tell us that they have watched the performance. I’m not sure if I can get some of the photos to post it for your viewing pleasure, but I will try.

Went back to barker soon after. We saw many police buses along Dunearn Road, after the cab driver made a U-turn near Swiss Cottage. 3 of us, plus the driver, were discussing on why so much drama along the road. My guess was it to be a bomb attack near the area but it doesn’t seems possible as none of the people in Caltax were evacuated. Eventually, we get to know the reason from Mr. Lai that some JI chief escaped from a detention barrack. No wonder so much drama… CLICK HERE FOR MORE UPDATES!!

Later, I was quite afraid that he really turn up at barker. What if he come and capture us, those who were staying over for Founder’s Day Parade, and hold us as hostage??? I stayed up till around 3.30am before I started to feel delirious, and fell asleep.

Thursday morning, I woke up at 5.50am to change and prepare myself for the parade. I was quite impressed with the turn out of the company. The band did a little practice and tuning in the early morning to prepare ourselves for the performance.

We saw Mr. Seow later with his camera and its “extended boom”. It seems that his boom is getting longer and bigger.

The parade started around 7plus am… it was a short parade, but efficient one… absolutely no chance for anyone to faint. I think that the band did quite well… the only upset was that Xavier’s drone came loose and the fragile omega drone reed fell onto the floor and broke. Haiz… need to waste time and money to send in for repair again. =(

Performance Details for Highlander

3rd posting in a day… I need you tell you about the performance details if you are interested.

The Merlion Pipes & Drums will be putting up a performance for the Highlander from 7.30pm to 8pm on 27th Feb 2008 (Wed). Come down if you happen to pass by or curious about what is a pipe band performance. We will be performing right within the fountain…

I can’t find my precious drill manual that has followed me through this 12 years of BB. Can anyone who find my manual quickly tell me?? I think I left it in barker… I wrote “Ong Wey Shi & 1B1″ in front. The pages are a little yellow.. Please, someone who either mistook it or found it please return to me.. very precious…

Happening Thursday!!

Not so much of me being happening, but there are a lot of happening things on that day…

First, those taking MS3003, the module on Materials Failure had their quiz… and I am one of them, happening right?? I studied real hard for it… mugging since Monday… but after taking the test, which has its words twisted, it seems very difficult for my bird brain, I can see that I don’t really understand what Dr Gan is trying to teach… I guess I will have to study harder…

Second, it’s SINGAPORE WON THE BID FOR YOUTH OLYMPICS 2010!! actually what so exciting about it?? I am neither a sportsman, nor will either this field, nor a business that earns a lot out it… so how does it concern me?? Okay la.. I agree that I am real proud of my country to win this bid, but I don’t understand why the minsters have to get so excited over it?? is it that I don’t love my country enough??

Third, celebrated Iris’ birthday after lesson at Jurong Point, Pizza Hut… there is a new member to dearie’s JC group, that is Agnes’ bf.. welcome to the boyfriend’s club, we are lonely bunch of people.. haha…

Forth, TOTO for Thursday with the 10 million dollars ang bao is out… Even though I am not a gambler, I think I still have to see how my luck goes in this year of the rat. I bought the Prosperity Pack on Monday which contain 2 system 7 numbers and a big sweep ticket… (hey, those underage reading this… especially if you are BB boy, don’t gamble ok?) I checked the results after I reached home.. to my surprise, I only manage to get 2 nos. for first row, and 1 no. for second row… I guess my luck isn’t so good after all…

Alrite, I think there are 2 performances coming up for me next week. I will be performing at Highlander @ Clarke Quay on 27 Feb 08, around 7 – 8 plus I think… PM… details are not confirmed yet… Come and watch if you can.. it’s free, provided by the Highlanders. You do not need to patronise them to watch man.. 2nd one will be the Founder’s Day Parade @ ACS Barker Road on 28 Feb 08, around 7 – 8 plus oso.. AM… I suppose you can’t come and watch because of the school security… For those who don’t know, I play the bagpipe, and it’s a bagpipe band…

BTW, I am suppose to be in barker practicing now.. and I am writing blog here.. haha….

Blackout!!

I was just plain surfing in the wee hours of the morning when there’s a blackout in my house. This was due to short circuit in one of the appliances or power socket in my house. Haiz.. spent an hour trying to find the cause of it, eventually I could only determine that the problem lies in my room, hence I slept without the fan.. which was so difficult due to the total silence and poor ventilation.

In the morning, I realise that I was sun tanning on my own bed, because the sun was shining brightly from my window onto my bed. I tried my best to tahan the heat, but eventually gave up and moved to my mum’s bed. When I finally, woke up, I decided to try out the switch again. Alas, the circuit breaker didn’t trip.. I was so happy!! I went to take a bath to wash away the sweat that I accumulated throughout the night of no fan and the morning of sun tanning.

As I am soaping, guess what?? it tripped again!! I was kinda pissed, because I didn’t like to bathe with cold water, especially when I am having a flu!!

After that, I decided to inspect all the stupid appliances and power socket… I assumed that the problem lies with the power socket just above my table. So, I took the cover out. Just as I have expected from a problematic power socket, the neutral wire came out from its slot. Immediately, I used my excellent wiring skills I learnt from all the practical in poly to fix it. I am so proud of myself, I managed to wire it beautifully.

However, even after the rewiring, it’s still not the problem.. I gave up… my mum decided to call the electrician to fix it… Just as we were waiting for the electrician to call again, my mum wanted to check all the appliances again.. to cut the long story short… it’s the stupid IRON that caused my agony!! Kenna scolded by dearie for spoiling the plans to go out…. but not my fault wad…

We met at esplanade library, the arts cafe to study at the comfortable (or not so comfortable) couch.. after awhile, there was this group of people started coming up and sing.. I’m so excited.. got FREE performances leh.. or not so free because I paid $9.50 for the oreo cheesecake and earl grey…

The group performed A Capella… it’s was wonderful to listen to it live.. this group of 3 guys and 3 gers called themselves acareaks… derived from acapella & freaks… I have a photo of them performing.

Later, we went to the hawker beside esplanade, near the pub offering live band. haha, the cheapskate me was freeloading music again… after buying the stuff, I realise that it’s a cat infested area. I have to be real brave to fight off the cats that were all ready to leap onto your table to eat your food… In fact, there was a table near us got attacked by the cats, which eventually got the attention of the “security guards” of the hawker centre to chase the cats… Even so, dearie was still so uptight about it and cannot eat without looking into the bushes for cats… and when she saw a cat coming, she will stop eating and stare at the cat, which I dunno for wad?? I guess she is scared ba…

ok la.. my break from studying is too long.. have to go back and study.. got test….

Founder’s Day Rehearsal…

Caught a flu since yesterday… but because I have to go down to barker to help out in parade, I just popped a few panadol and stayed in the sun for the whole afternoon. Right now, I am feeling damn sick, but I still have to go to school because that lesson is suppose to be quite interesting. Let’s hope that it will not be disappointing…

Skipped school yesterday to go down to barker to help out with the School’s Founder’s Day Parade. This year, BB will be sending in a guard of honour, a supporting contingent and a band… I seriously think it’s too much, looking at the no. of Boys that turn up for the parades and rehearsals. I really hope that there will be a revival in the Company, when the Boys will really take pride in their CCA and enjoy their 4-5 years in it. Ultimately, it’s up to them to make it fun! I have enjoyed BB so much since my secondary school years that I am still helping now… or maybe it’s because the officers haven’t been as committed as those officers last time to really mentor us… well, I still believe that BB is a good organization, and like all CCA, they need to take pride in what they are doing in order to enjoy it…

The guard of honour’s standard is in the making. Although it may not be as good as last time, but it has improved over the past 2 years. It’s always very discouraging to see the Boys yawning and slacking in the contingent, how I wished that they can marched with their head tilt up and hands firm by their side… I should look at the bright side, these are the Boys that have been turning up for parade all these while.. =) hang in there, my promise to you is to make BB a CCA that you will enjoy…

Brandon is getting the confident in commanding at last… and Weiyang’s commanding really impressed quite a few officers and primers. if both of you happen to read this, good work and keep it up.. the best is yet to be…

Was really sick when I reached home… slept for 2 hours and woke up to study… because there is a test on materials failure on thursday… I am so proud of myself that I attended 2 online lecture.. Dr Gan is actually quite a funny guy, which cannot be displayed from his monotonous voice.. hope God will continue to be with me as I put my heart in to study…

Alrite.. tt’s all for now, need to prepare myself to meet up with Dearie for school… pray for me…

Where is the fire??

Haiz… another day wasted… I was looking at my msn list, checking out some of their nick & pictures. I realise that almost everyone has changed for the better?? they looked better, have a good job and have a purpose in life.. and now I think about myself, what am I doing?

I remember those days when I am full of dreams and the desire to excel… such as in secondary school, when I have done all the workbooks even before mid year exams… those days when I topped the class… those days when I practice hard everyday in piping to be better and better… those days when I’m 30kg lesser, feel energetic and healthy.. that was really those days when I am really proud of myself…

Now, I am occupied everyday with unimportant matters, doing things that are neither urgent nor important… surfing the net for useless stuff… instead of doing my homework and other important things… eating junk food everyday.. thinking that tmr will be the day for diet…. Procrastination is what i am doing everyday… headaches, tired, backaches are there because I think it’s there… Of course, my messy house and table is one of the causing factor…

         

What is happening to me?? where is my fire for my passion and future… I am beginning to dread more and more things… can someone teach me how to find back the fire that I used to have?? the desire to excel…

CNY celebrations.. a season to get FAT!!

After a few days of Chinese New Year celebration, I have successfully hit 94.8kg, all thanks to the great host from many families feeding me with good and fattening food. Right now, I guess I am going to have a hard time trying to slim down.

Till date, I have visited 6 homes for the exciting ang bao collecting journey. It was tiring at times, but I guess I enjoyed it… haha… who can resist the temptations of ang bao?? However, I realised that my greatest enjoyment is still eating.. HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT??

There are still so many days left before the Chinese New Year end. I hope I can control myself and eat less man.. else I will be in trouble when I see those stairs in NTU…

Today, while I am on my way home from my dearie’s house, I saw my ex-band major of The Boys’ Brigade, 12th Singapore Company (Barker Road) Pipe Band… which is the bagpipe band that I am in since I was in secondary school. He was 1 year my senior and a piper. At first, I wasn’t sure it was him as he looked so much different (10 years leh.. what to expect??). Then I went over and asked him if he was Murali (his name)… YES HE IS!! We had a good chat and he expressed interested in coming back to play the pipes!! I am so happy, coz I know that if he stay on, I won’t be the oldest band member around.. haha….

So much for this few weeks… BTW, please help me to spread my blog around.. I need money to buy V-day present!! I will be posting more items for sale soon…
